SmartMoms Pass Safe Sleep School

As a community of moms, SmartMom feels a responsibility to provide resources that can change a family’s life. In honor of SIDS Awareness Month this October, we have partnered with Finnbin, a baby box company, to launch a brand new online resource Safe Sleep School.

Safe Sleep School features online video “courses” raising awareness for the prevention of SIDS, as well as other topics that concern family wellness like car seat safety and nutrition for nursing mothers. The site includes an online quiz parents can take after viewing the online video courses to showcase an understanding of the information on how to help keep babies safe.

Currently, Safe Sleep School includes videos from Dr. Dania Rumbak, a fully licensed Pediatrician, board-certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care, who serves as an Assistant Professor at Columbia University Children’s Hospital. Dr. Rumbak is also the Chief Medical Officer at There will be additional courses and content going live in coming months!

The idea for Safe Sleep School was inspired by our partner, Finnbin, as their mission is to provide safe sleepers for newborns and educational resources to new parents in hopes of ultimately decreasing the infant mortality rate in the United States. But what exactly is a Finnbin baby box?

Finnbin baby boxes are a tribute to Finland’s tradition of granting maternity packages to all expectant or adoptive parents. Finnbin aims to make life easier for new parents by helping them prepare for their baby and providing newborn babies with a safe place to sleep.

SmartMom and Finnbin together invite new and expecting parents to visit to view the video curriculum, take the quiz, and share their knowledge of safe sleep with friends and family!
