But are they biologically related to the dad? If so how do they do that?

Surrogacy is a woman carrying a baby for you, they would use your eggs and your husbands sperm, fertilize the eggs and implant them into the woman carrying the baby

Some surrogates you their eggs so their are the bio mom and some use your eggs. I think there's different terminology for each type. But either way, they use the sperm from your husband or from a donor and carry the baby for you. They usually sign tons of documentation that binds them so they have to give you the baby when it's born.

There are two types: traditional surrogate & gestational surrogate A traditional surrogate is a woman who is artificially inseminated with the father's sperm. A gestational surrogate has no genetic ties to the child. So it's a combination of your egg and your SO sperm. Done through IVF and then embryo being placed into the uterus of surrogate.
