Ok moms I have a question (please no judging) I have had an awful pregnancy (32 weeks now) and I have suffered from severe mental Illness for years. My psych thinks it would be best for me to have a c section and so do I. I talked to My OB and he said he would give me one as long as my insurance covered it (I have Prestige Medicaid in florida) my psych is also writing a letter as to why he thinks it's medically necessary. Do you think I'll be able to get it? Does anyone know if prestige covers

I'm sure if your medical professionals recommend it you will be able to. Best of luck

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to get one? Not everyone can have a natural birth.

Why do you & your psych think it's best to do a C-Section? It takes longer to heal and you're bed ridden a lot longer when you get.

I agree with the above comments. I don't see why they wouldn't approve a c section especially if you're doctor is recommending one.

Even if it's a psych and not OB?

I just don't know if "mental disorder" is an option to check off when billing insurance. Not sure how any of that works

I think c-sections have become almost as common as natural childbirth. I had an emergency c-sect when I dilated early and my dd was turned the wrong way. If you have a valid reason, I don't see why they wouldn't.

Medicaid pays for anything

You can always call and see if it's covered. I don't know why it wouldn't be.
