I really wish I had this app when my son was born!! :/ I never heard of mothers milk tea or anything like that! I had a very low (about 1 oz all together) milk supply when I pumped! It broke my heart to have to give my son formula! And now my friend comes over every now and then and she breast feeds and it breaks my heart having to feed my son formula! I wish I downloaded this when he was born!

If you are still producing milk there is still a chance you can increase your supply. There are a lot of good tips on google. And remember... SOME breast milk is better than none!

Better late than never? How old is your LO? Has your milk dried up now or could you attempt bfeeding again with supplements?

My sons 4 months old. I think I stopped at about 2-3 weeks. I'm not sure if it's dried up yet?

If he's 4 months, it's not too late to start again. Milk comes in as supply and demand so if you have your son latch and/or continually pump every 2 hours, your supply should come back. Try the tea and fenugreek. And up your calorie intake. That's what I did when my supply started to dwindle.

Is the tea safe for the both of us? No causes of cancer or anything?

Would he know how to breast feed?

The tea is as safe as anything for both of you. You may need to get a supplemental system (sns I think it's called) as well to help LO "learn" how to BF while still getting fed at the same time. I highly recommend getting in touch with a lactation consultant and your local chapter of the La Leche League for help and support if relactating is what you want to do. It is completely possible but it won't be easy and you should have all the support you can get.

Yes he will . Use the tea and fenugreek . I had a tough time at first too but did then power pumping every 2 hours and lots if water! If he doesn't latch right away try using a nipple shield , worked like a gem for me. :)

I was just told my a friend who's a retired nurse that it won't happen this late because I haven't breast fed in a while. What do you think?

Doesn't hurt to try!

It won't hurt me if I don't produce anything? I'm scared of the side effects but would love for it to work!

You probably haven't dried up yet! Congrats on wanting to breast feed. Every drop is precious gold liquid. Def try to start with fenugreek and make sure you hydrate yourself well. I know people say it's old wives tale but it worked for me oatmeal helped me. Good luck and again congrats. Also have you considered going to see a lactation specialist. She told me so many tips!

Thank you! I tried so hard before for 2-3 weeks was in so much pain from pumping and then had to take my son to the hospital and didn't get to pump that day and really wasn't getting anything anyways. I will try all that! Thank you!!!

There's a mommy and me group I go to every week and there's a lactation consultant there.

Nikki, try searching "relactation." Maybe on kellymom.com? Best wishes to you.

Even adoptive moms can lactate for the children they've adopted so clearly your friend is incorrect. It's just A LOT of effort. It is often more effort than many are willing to put forth which makes it seem like it must not be possible to everyone else.

Thanks! I am willing to do it!
