Hi mamas. I have a question! My daughter is 9 months old and I'm wondering if it's too early to introduce her to almond milk? I'm still breast feeding and I plan to continue up till at least a year, so about four more months! But I'm so tired and it would be nice to maybe replace one feeding with a bottle.. I have an appointment tomorrow with her pediatrician tomorrow so I'll ask and get more info. I'm just up late thinking about how tired I am. LOL. Breast feeding is exhausting.

She's going to say no. Almond milk is nowhere near breast milk or homo milk. Like..why? Of all things almond milk? Why almond milk? your baby needs fat and nutrition.. Not almond milk.

You are a trooper!! Not sure. Are you opposed to formula? My LO is colicky and she took to Enfamil Neutramagin very well to supplement. I just bought the powder and if lasts a while if it's only a bottle a day. We just switched to Gentlese and that has been going well too-about 18 bucks for a large powder can.

I would be careful with allergies to nuts and almonds. I EBF for a year, my ped told me to no matter what even while nursing stay away from berries, nuts and almonds because of allergens ask your ped It is exhausting but worth it and you are so close

Nevermind allergies... there's not enough fat or vitamins in it. Did formula not cross your mind or even homo milk? You would starve your kid. I'm not even trying to be mean. This question amazes me

It's definitely too early; wait at least a year and then test a couple teaspoons for any allergic reactions. Every couple days increase the amount. Check with your Dr. and maybe have an EPI pen on hand when experimenting with nuts.

No! Almond milk does not have the right nutrients for a 9 month old. You can do it!!

You can do hemp milk when ready but I believe 9 months is too young

You're close. There are probably options, but I don't think almond milk is the right answer. I'd be curious to know what your pedi recommends. Please post!

No way man! There was just a mom on the news here that killed her kid from doing something like this. It makes no sense!

You don't think it's asinine that someone would consider replacing milk with nut juice? People aren't born vegans, milk is essential for ALL mammals

Well research shows that we are the only mammal that drinks another animals milk and that it's not necessary to do so , so no I do not think its asinine as you would say. We do not NEED cows milk or any other animal for that matter. But I do think she has the right to ask a question without remarks making her feel bad. That's not what this app is for

I don't want this to turn into the great debate over milk. We all have the right to choose what we think is best. However we don't have the right to make a snive comments and call names. just because you don't agree. We re here to support each other

Also, there are lots of other mammals that drink another animals milk. They're the smart ones that know how to survive when they can't get it from their mother.

Well said shawna. Thank you!! If I want to give my daughter almond, hemp, whatever milk that's my decision to make as her parent. Like shawna said, we don't need cows milk. Clearly, nutrition come first and I would never put my daughter in a position where she isn't getting enough. I chose to breastfeed because in my opinion it was the best way to go. I'm just exploring my options right now. No need to be rude or attack me or any one else. You have every right to believe in what you want and

Do what you feel is best for your own child. I'm not judging you or insulting you because of it. It's just disgusting to be that way. Thank you everyone for your input and opinion, good or bad. I appreciate the feedback and I'm still researching more and exploring what I feel is best for my sweet girl. π

Uuuh. Ya ok then. Great response lol Grecia. No problem. Usually I keep my mouth shut but this one I couldn't. Not only because it was un fair, But also uneducated. I have been vegan and living more natural lifestyle for over 20 yrs and am very educated on nutritional info. Most people have no clue but have rude comments. Anywho your question was a good one hope the other comments helped. Look into hemp milk. Has all the fat and nutrients baby needs until you switch to almond ππππ
